Softball | 2016 Season

History:  The Morro Bay High School softball team competes in the traditionally tough Los Padres League with some of the finest softball programs in California. Our softball program is growing in talent and experience, and we expect to be a team that will challenge all comers in the seasons ahead.  The 2016 varsity and J.V. teams play a great game of softball, led by second year Head Coach, Mike Fleming.  Junior Varsity again be coached by Riley Barnes.  We are young, tough, talented, and getting better all the time.  The Pirates qualified for CIF play-offs this past season and served notice they will be back for more in 2016.

Pre-Season: Girls not involved in a fall or winter sport need to work on individual fundamentals, conditioning, and weight-lifting in preparation for the upcoming season.

Season: We currently field teams at the J.V. (Frosh/Soph) and Varsity levels.  Not only do we play league games, but we also play in the Santa Maria, and Best of the West Softball Tournaments.  Both teams play their home games at Morro Bay High School on a wonderful, relatively new, softball complex.  Practice for both teams begins in mid-February and last until mid-May. The Varsity team may continue play through the play-offs until the first week of June.

Summer: The coaching staff is currently in the process of fielding a summer team. The purpose of playing summer ball is to develop and establish fundamentals and techniques through the participation in game situations. We strongly urge everyone to join us in summer workouts so players can enhance their opportunity to develop softball skills and participate in the Morro Bay High School softball program as a freshman.

Benefits: The coaching staff firmly believes in team play, cooperation, and sportsmanship. Team members develop friendships and camaraderie that will last for years. For more information, please call Coach Mike Fleming @
