Football | 2016 Season
2015 was the first season for head coach David Kelley at Morro Bay High School. He has brought a wealth of experience, leadership, and enthusiasm to Morro Bay High School. Morro Bay Football is moving forward and Coach Kelley is anxious to meet with the next generation of Pirate football players.
Over the past two decades Morro Bay football has become one of the most successful programs not only the Los Padres League and San Luis Obispo County, but the State of California. In 2007 the Pirates finished with a record of 11-1 a Los Padres League Championship and a #10 ranking in the State of California for Division III. To follow that up the 2008 Pirate Football Team reached the Northwest Division Semi-Finals where they lost a tough game to eventual champion and #1 Ranked Oaks Christian 29-7 quarterbacked by Nick Montana and again finished ranked #13 in the State of California for Division III. The Pirates have reached the CIF playoffs 12 out of the past 14 years. Be part of the Morro Bay Pirate Football tradition of excellence.
Morro Bay Football also has had a tradition of players playing at the next level. Logan Budd (2007) who was 1st Team All California and was the CIF Northwest Division Player as well as Los Padres League Player of the Year is on scholarship playing football at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Jerome Long (2007) who was also 1st Team All California and the Defensive Player of the Los Padres League played on scholarship at San Diego State and eventually was drefter by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 7th round. Jerome played for the Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars and finished his career with the Dallas Cowboys. Other players to name a few who received scholarships and or played at the next level were Corey Stollmeyer (2004) Humboldt, Nick Hoover (2000) Cal Poly, Ryan Cloward (1998) Occidental, Adam Thomas (1998) San Diego.
Morro Bay participates in the strong Nothern League. Summer preparation will have much to do with our competitive strength this fall. All prospective ninth grade football players are strongly encouraged to get involved this summer.
